Last Days in the OC

This post is chronicling our last days in Southern California.  They were bittersweet as they were spent saying goodbye to good friends and also to a place we have called home for the past 10 years. Ricky and I met, were married, started our life together and had our first baby there.  We are excited for this new chapter in our lives but we will always treasure the memories and friends made while living in Orange County!

Rachel and Greta came over to help me pack one morning.  It was so sweet of them to help out as it is not easy to get anything done when you are taking care of a 4 month old who decided not to nap that whole week!  Thank you Rachel and Greta!

Her response when I told her to smile.

Greta wanted to hold William.  Here she is giving him some love.

Giving William a kiss.  Greta will be a great big sister someday!

We had a get together at Muldoons, an Irish pub in Newport Beach, to say goodbye to friends.  It was a great time and are thankful for such wonderful friendships.  We miss you all!

My Mom and Ricky's Mom came down to help us pack up and move.  Thank you both for your help!  We could not have done it without you!   That weekend, my sister Ruth and her husband Nate were in Disneyland so they came over one night for dinner.  We had fun visiting Auntie Ruth and Uncle Nate Dawg!

Tired after a day of packing.

Moving day!  In addition to both Moms, we had some wonderful friends who came and helped us move.  Their help was invaluable and we are so very appreciative!  Here are some pics of the little ones who came to help.

On our way up to Oregon, we spent the night in Lodi to split up the trip.  William and I were able to visit with Grandma Mitzi and Papa while there.  William loved visiting with his Great-Grandparents!

The Shinns!

While living in Southern California, one of the highlights of our week was getting together with Jon, Rachel, and Greta Shinn for dinner every Sunday night.  Jon is my cousin so it turned into family dinner night.  This was one of our favorite traditions and one that is greatly missed now that we are living in Oregon.  We miss you Jon, Rach, and Greta!

William's first time in the Bumbo.  I think he likes it!

Greta ready to eat!

Rachel always set a lovely table.

My Mom was in town and joined us for this dinner.

Oregon!

As most of you know, the Newtons have relocated.  We recently left Orange County and moved to the beautiful Bend, Oregon!  It was a move that we have been considering for a long time now and the timing was finally right.  We decided that we wanted to be closer to family (Ricky's family lives there) and we have always loved this area.  Right now are renting a 3 bedroom house with a yard which we are so excited about!   It was very hard to leave all of our friends in Southern California and we miss them terribly, but we also now that this is the best long term decision for our family.  We love visitors and have an extra room so please feel free to come up and see us anytime!

Life Group BBQ

About a month ago (I am a little behind on my posts) we got together with our Life Group for a BBQ after being on hiatus for the summer.  It was great to see everyone and catch up!

Life Group Play Date

Ricky and I had the privilege of being apart of a wonderful Life Group while attending Rockharbor.  We met some wonderful couples whose friendships we cherish.  The best part was being able to share in some big milestones together.  We were all married around the same time and then we all had babies around the same time!  About a month ago, we decided to get together for a play date so we could welcome little Lucas Schultz.  Friend Sarah was so gracious to host and made a wonderful brunch.  Here are some pics from the morning.  We had a wonderful time!
